Nemis Portal Login: A Step By Step Guide To NEMIS Registration.

Since the Government of Kenya officially announced plans to overhaul the old 8-4-4 education system and replace it with the new skills-based 2-6-3-3-3 structure, a number of things came to the fore.

One of them was the introduction of the NEMIS or the National Education Management System Kenya. I bet you’ve heard about this.

As a project by the Ministry of Education, every learner’s information including the names, details of birth, performance, etc. are kept in a database. These will be tracked from time to time as the learner transitions through different levels of education.

What is Nemis?

This is a website launched by the Ministry of Education Kenya in 2018 that automates end-to-end management of education data and the associated administrative functions.

What this means is that NEMIS collects, provides and analyzes the real-time data which will be used for making key decisions in education. Plus, all administrative functions are handled with NEMIS to avoid the tedious manual processes that took a lot of time and resources.

When it comes to the scope of operation, the NEMIS database stores all entities related to education. This includes information of the students, teachers, principals, schools, educational offices at both zonal and provincial levels and even the Ministry of Education itself.

Simply put, NEMIS is digitizing education in Kenya.

NEMIS Registration Process  .

The registration process begins by visiting the NEMIS website nemis.education.go.ke. You only become a member by ensuring that you register in the NEMIS portal.

Why Do We Need NEMIS?

Overall, the Ministry of Education needs to use the NEMIS system to help them manage the complex data and systems which are apparently pronounced in the education sector.

Having a single source of data is a win for the mammoth education sector. This data is easy to access and compile correct data for analysis in order to help facilitate proper planning and budget allocation.

Besides, the system doesn’t just focus on learners alone. It also looks to back the administrative functions of the education sector.

To put it better, issues of good governance for efficiency, accountability, and transparency will be easily managed through NEMIS. Meaning that a more robust education system is on course.

Other things that NEMIS will do include monitoring and evaluating education info to improve the quality of education in the institutions.

You can get key statistics about schools, human resource, physical facilities and enrolment of students in the NEMIS system.
